Equality Objectives

Our Commitment

We aim to provide the highest possible standard of education for all pupils. The ethos of our academies reflects a strong commitment to inclusion, dignity, respect and equity, ensuring that all members of our communities feel safe, valued and supported to achieve their potential.
This commitment aligns with current DfE expectations including (but not limited to):
The SEND Code of Practice
Keeping Children Safe in Education
Behaviour and Anti-Bullying guidance
Sexual harassment and peer-on-peer abuse guidance
Safer recruitment and workforce equality expectations

We have set ourselves the following objectives:

Objective 1: Equality of Opportunity
  • The Trust will ensure equality of opportunity for all pupils, staff and prospective employees, regardless of protected characteristics, by:
  • Removing or minimising disadvantage experienced by individuals or groups due to protected characteristics
  • Making reasonable adjustments for pupils, staff and visitors with disabilities
  • Ensuring fair access to the curriculum, enrichment, assessment, professional development and career progression
  • Using data and impact assessments to identify and address inequalities in outcomes, participation and experience

Objective 2: Inclusive, Safe and Respectful Environment
  • The Trust will provide an inclusive, professional and secure environment for all members of the academy community by:
  • Maintaining clear expectations of behaviour that promote respect, dignity and positive relationships
  • Actively preventing and addressing discrimination, bullying, harassment (including sexual harassment) and victimisation
  • Embedding safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion into policy, practice and staff training
  • Promoting understanding and respect between people with shared and different protected characteristics

Objective 3: Accountability and Continuous Improvement
  • To reflect current DfE expectations, it is strongly recommended that you include an explicit accountability objective:
The Trust will:
- Regularly review equality objectives and their impact
- Publish relevant equality information in line with statutory requirements
- Ensure leaders, governors and staff are trained and accountable for fulfilling equality duties
- Engage with pupils, staff and families to inform inclusive practice
