Briar Hill Primary School

Briar Hill is a warm and happy school with well-being at the heart. All children are challenged, nurtured and inspired to achieve highly and make a positive contribution to society.

We hope that parents will support the School Meals Provider (Chartwells), whenever possible, because we strongly believe in the social benefits of children eating together in a ‘family’ atmosphere.

The cost of a school meal and payment details are stated on the school information sheet available upon request.

Families receiving Income Support may be eligible for free meals and confidential information is available from the school office.

Chartwells provide nutritionally balanced, delicious meals cooked in school. Menus are sent home in advance and provide a vegetarian option. Meals need to be booked in advance, please contact the school office for more information and the weekly menu is sent out on MCAS and is online

Packed lunches

Children who bring in packed lunches are encouraged to bring healthy food, wherever possible.

As a school, we actively encourage our children to adopt a healthy lifestyle. Children in KS1 receive a free piece of fruit as part of the School’s National Fruit and Vegetables Scheme. We discourage children from bringing sweets or chocolate, advocating a healthy snack instead. Children are encouraged to drink water freely throughout the day. Fizzy drinks are not allowed in school and fruit drinks are not allowed outside the lunch box. Milk is provided free of charge to children under five. It is delivered to school and stored in a fridge to ensure the children enjoy a cool drink at break time.
